Testicular PRP
Testicular PRP
Non-obstructive azoospermia (no sperm) and oligospermia (low numbers of sperm) have been found to be significant barriers to fertility. About 10 % of all infertile men and about 1 % of the general population of men suffer from azoospermia. Some studies have suggested that as many as 50 % of all men in infertile couples have oligospermia.
Many couples with infertility from azoospermia and oligospermia must use donor sperm to conceive. Testicular PRP is one of the newest treatments available for azoospermia and oligospermia.
A small amount of PRP is injected into each testicle. In one study, injection of the PRP increased the number of spermatogenic stem cells with increases in the total number of sperm and motility improvement. These improvements may allow a couple to have a child with their own DNA
Testicular PRP is a very safe and straightforward procedure with little to no adverse side effects.
If you have a low sperm count or no sperm count, testicular PRP may be an appropriate treatment choice. Please give our office a call to schedule an appointment with one of our providers to determine if testicular PRP is right for you.
